PEDF041 – Post Rock– Anthemic Instrumental Indie-Rock

PiL bassist Jah Wobble once declared, "rock is obsolete".  Welcome to Post Rock!

No more obsolete structures and rules here, only absolute creative freedom: a gulp of fresh air in guitar, bass and drumland. The term "post rock" is believed to have been coined by Simon Reynolds of Mojo magazine back in the early 1990s.  He used it to describe music "using rock instrumentation for non-rock purposes, using guitars as facilitators of timbre and textures rather than riffs and power chords".

A common trait in post rock is to favour songs that slowly grow from ambient beginnings to furious climactic peaks.  This is the basic post rock modus operandi: relying on song texture and tonality rather than melody, changes in volume and tension rather than changes of key or rhythm.

Post Rock

The Post Rock album was entirely recorded at London’s Heart Of Gold studios, masterfully played by close collaborators Tim Bazell, Tom Greenwood and Chris Whittingham.  They have managed to keep the stylistic essence of the genre intact and have produced an artistic body of work which stands strong within today’s eclectic musical landscape.

Welcome to Post Rock!
