“Authenticity is that rarest of musical components; the most wanted, yet the hardest to come by. The one that can’t be bought. The one that can’t be faked. Bristol’s Scott Hendy has it”. This may sound like a bold statement to make but there’s no doubt, no doubt whatsoever, that Scott Hendy, a.k.a. Boca 45 has one of the most authentic and original sounds we’ve ever come by.  Pigeonhole and compare if you like: Danger Mouse, Flying Lotus, The Gorrillaz, Tame Impala, Mark Ronson and Portishead all rear their musical heads on Scott’s tunes but the final proof is in the pudding. Ladies and gents, prick up your ears for Boca 45′s latest: Surfing The Severn!

The album kicks off with the Emmy nominated Ben Salisbury collaboration Whistle Point Break. A classic tune indeed, Morricone-style whistling and all!  No need to introduce Ben Salisbury who is well-known as one of UK’s leading film and TV composers having scored over 50 films and numerous TV shows including the last 3 of David Attenborough’s ‘Life’ series.

Scott continues to work his magic on Surfing The Severn by mixing up old school hip hop, breaks, riffs, grooves and bass lines in future classics such as the chilled out City In The Summer or the 60s influenced surf infused break sounds of Split Screen, just to name a few.

In another life, Scott’s main project Malachai, a two-piece fronted by vocalist Gee, has received great acclaim, described as “musically daring” by the NME and receiving intense praise from the likes of Radio 1 and MTV’s Zane Lowe (hottest record in the world), Kasabian’s Serge Pizzorno and personally being invited by The Doves to support them on a sold-out tour. Mojo magazine even described his work as “a stand alone Bristol sensation”!

To top it all, Scott’s track Contaminated Waters Part 3 was used in the Banksy Movie “Exit Through The Gift Shop”  (@56’40″) and Tom Findlay from Groove Armada said of the album it came from: “Production is very fat, ideas are a great mix of contemporary and classic”.  Other exceptional placements include his track Snowflake used in the 2012 Lexus All-Weather Drive TV commercial and his track “Queen Bee”  in the EA Sports Fifa Street trailer.

One thing’s for sure: if originality is what you’re after you will not be disappointed by Boca 45′s Surfing The Severn. Scott Hendy will see to it. Let’s see this one grow!
