Vanessa Contenay-Quinones is French, Paris born and bred.
She grew up immersed in the sounds of the 60’s found rummaging through her dad’s record collection….Gainsbourg, Birkin, Hardy, Polnaref, Vartan and Dutronc. Out of love with the French music scene of the 90’s she transferred to London, signed a record deal and released a largely self produced album as Espiritu on uber hip Heavenly Records. She also remixed the b52’s, made a record with Lou Reed, started a band called The O’s with Smashing Pumpkin co-founder James Iha, was the guest vocalist on Scott Walkers recent album The Drift and was invited by Ennio Morricone to contribute a track to his tribute album alongside Springsteen, Metallica, Quincy Jones and the maestro himself. Vanessa has been keeping good company! The first Vanessa & The 0’s album ‘La Ballade d’O', was released to Universal acclaim.
Vanessa is currently working on songs for The O’s second album and will contribute a new song to the soon to be released collection of talented French demoiselles ‘Filles Fragiles 2′.
Vanessa appears on the Pedigree Cuts albums Allez Pop! (PED_F013) . Notably ‘Bon Bon Bon’ features on ‘Killers’ Lionsgate’ OST released July 2010 achieving a US Box office N.3 this week 7th July.
